Animal Clash
Gertrud is in love.
Yes yes, she loves Jørgen, but it is the oak table with the blue and yellow tiles that she is thinking of. They saw it together on the weekend, it was standing in the window of a posh furniture store on Gammel Kongevej in Copenhagen.
It's a store they never go in to, they are young and Jørgen didn't get the promotion he was promised. "If we win the lottery, we will buy it" teases Jørgen.
Gertrud buys a lottery ticket.

The process
As soon as I saw the patterns that Rasmus Balstrøm had sketched I knew that I, somehow, had to continue the pattern down the legs.
Inspired by the gooey slime that kids get as toys, I wanted to make something that would give the feel of the patterns oozing out of the spouts in the table. I used Sculpey clay to shape the ooze and painted the patterns with acrylic paint. To give the surface a very shiny oozy appearance I coated them with epoxy. It was really fun and a quite long process.
DEMO
SKETCHES

I told my friend, Rasmus Balstrøm, about this idea of making graffiti tables. To support me in my idea, Rasmus did some quick demo sketches for me to work with. I am very appreciative that he squeezed in the time in his packed schedule. Rasmus' quick demo sketches have been very inspiring to my creative process!
Thank you for your support Rasmus!
